475 Waterloo RAGBRAI Volunteers Needed July 28--30
WATERLOO, IOWA (July 14, 2010) – Waterloo RAGBRAI committee members estimate 475 volunteers of all ages, interests and abilities are still needed before, during and after RAGBRAI visits Waterloo (July 28-30). Volunteering at Waterloo RAGBRAI is a great opportunity for a work outing, team-building opportunity, family activity, or just a way for a few friends to do something fun together. Shifts will typically be 2-4 hours in length. Volunteers will receive general training and specific training for their assignment. Current available volunteer positions include: • Information Center – 55 volunteers needed Hand out maps, answer questions about activities and services, etc. Thursday, July 29 from 6 a.m. to midnight and Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
• Public Safety – 7 volunteers needed Assist police with traffic control. Thursday from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
• Facilities – 90 volunteers needed o Set Up Manual labor needed to set up fencing, hang signage, set up tables, etc. Wednesday, July 28 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Thursday, July 29 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. o Clean Up Help pick up litter and secure the area for overnight. Thursday, July 29 at 11 p.m. - Friday, July 30 at 2 a.m. o Tear Down Manual labor needed to remove fencing, signage, equipment, etc. Friday, July 30 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
• Cleaning Crew – 65 volunteers needed Assemble trash and recycling boxes, place the boxes around the campground and empty the containers. Wednesday, July 28 – Friday, July 30
•Entertainment – needs 5 volunteers Assist with entertainment backstage. Thursday, July 29 – Friday, July 30
•Hospitality – 250 volunteers needed Welcome RAGBRAI riders as they ride the final mile into Waterloo and say farewell as they leave in the morning. Thursday – July 29 all day and Friday, July 30 in the morning
